Requirements & Testing Information

To establish English proficiency:
To establish second-language proficiency:

All interested students will need to demonstrate proficiency with results from one of the following standardized tests:

 

  • ACCESS (ELL)

    • Minimum Score to Qualify for State Seal: 5 Overall Composite, 4.2 Reading, 4.2 Writing

    • Minimum Score to Qualify for State Commendation: 3.5 Literacy

  • PARCC

    • Minimum Score to Qualify for State Seal OR Commendation: Meets standards in English Language Arts

  • SAT (effective 2016-17 school year)

    • Minimum Score to Qualify for State Seal OR Commendation: Meets standards in English Language Arts (480+)

  • ACT (effective 2016-2017 school year)

    • Minimum Score to Qualify for State Seal OR Commendation:

      • 21+ for English OR Composite score of 21+

 

In order to establish English proficiency, all interested seniors need to submit a completed and signed verification form, which can be found here.

For Arabic, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), French, German, Hebrew, Japanese, or Spanish:

 

Interested students will register and take the Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency (STAMP) 4S

 

The STAMP 4S is a computer-based test which assesses listening, reading, speaking, and writing proficiency

 

The cost is approximately $25 per test which must be paid in full at the time the student registers for the test.

 

Testing dates will be offered during the Fall and Spring Semesters of the 2016-2017 school year for qualified students.  We will provide specific testing information for the 2016-2017 school year on our home page as it becomes available.

 

Minimum Score to Qualify for State Seal: Intermediate High

Minimum Score to Qualify for State Commendation: Intermediate Low

 

In order to receive instructions about registering for the STAMP 4S test, return your completed verification form (found here) to a member of the Seal of Biliteracy committee:

For students speaking a language other than those listed above, proficiency will be based on the submission of a language portfolio.  More information will be made available to these students in the coming weeks.
